We originally reached out to Parkhouse Finley on the recommendation of friends and fell in love with their farmhouse chic style and the level of quality for which they're known. We met with Kayla and Jarrad and laid out for them all our ideas for the renovation plans we had – primarily for a finished basement space but also for some updates to our main floor kitchen. After spending an hour or so together, taking measurements, discussing ideas, our feelings about our neighborhood and our plans for the future, Jarrad had a surprising recommendation. His recommendation – “Don’t do a thing I wouldn’t touch it – don’t hire us!” Seeing that we were obviously a little taken aback, he explained his thoughts a little more. Given our plans for 5-10 years down the road, the current value of our home vs. the comparable homes in our area, the cost of the updates we were considering, and the uncertain circumstances in our world, his recommendation was not to invest money into our home that we wouldn’t recuperate. We already have one of the more expensive homes in our neighborhood and the Parkhouse Finley team recognized that. Given their years of real estate experience, they also knew the implications. They knew that investing in a sizable project would put us into a position where we would not likely recover any appreciable home value. Jarrad and Kayla listened not only to our ideas for top-of-the-line updates and remodeling, but they also listened to our plans for our family and for the future. I have worked with a lot of contractors in my life and this was the first time I have EVER had one talk me OUT of hiring them. The team at Parkhouse is not only a forward-thinking, creative, quality contractor, they have values that are so rare in today’s world, values that place others before themselves, and people before profit. They may have dissuaded us from spending tens of thousands of dollars with them in the short term, but they’ve gained a lifelong customer in the process.
